Jointed Dino Pattern

Updated: May 21, 2019

I have never listened to anyone who criticized my taste in space travel, sideshows or gorillas. When this occurs, I pack up my dinosaurs and leave the room.”

- Ray Bradbury

I want to do just a little bragging. Today and onward, the Jointed Dino pattern is available from my Etsy shop!

So I'm going to give you some glamor shots and tell you a little more about it than is on the pattern page.

It uses techniques a few steps up from basic knitting, but if you break it down it's all simple pieces. It's mostly straight knitting or in the round, and it's short rows that give it the shape.

Start at the nose, turn for the head, go down the neck and continue down toward the tail. If you're good with Magic Loop that might be better than DPNs, especially at the small bits like when the tail gets tiny.

But essentially, it's the body from nose to tail, then four limbs. And that's it!

Adjust to make a Loch Ness Monster, or add wings to make it a dragon. The joints are made with only four buttons -- so it does involve some know-how with a needle and thread, but if you can put a button back on I'm sure it's well within your skills.

Again, you can find this pattern (as well as instructions on the joints and how to put it all together) at my shop {HERE}.

I'm trying to finally clean out my to-do list and half-finished projects. Some of it's just for me, personally, but some of it will also be available on the shop.

For personal projects, I'll still be posting about my experiences using different techniques and patterns, so stay tuned!
